Product Description Product Name: Linksys Wireless-N WRT150N Home RouterMarketing Information: The Wireless-N WRT150N Home Router is really three devices in one box. First, there"s the Wireless Access Point, which lets you connect to the network without wires. There"s also a built-in 4-port full-duplex 10/100 Switch to connect your wired-Ethernet devices together. Finally, the Router function ties it all together and lets your whole network share a high-speed cable or DSL Internet connection. The Access Point built into the Router uses the very latest wireless networking technology: Wireless-N (draft 802.11n). By overlaying the signals of multiple radios, Wireless-N"s Multiple In, Multiple Out (MIMO) technology multiplies the effective data rate. Quick and easy setup excellent wireless router August 20, 2010 thetusk I got this to replace my Linksys WRT54G wireless router. Loaded the CD, followed the
prompts, did the router firmware flash upgrade and presto! Had to do some minor configuring on the laptop, but once that was done, the router works very well all over the house. I've had a couple of "drop-outs" from about 70-100 feet away but for the most part looks like this one may be a "keeper".
Never worked well for wireless & broke down outside of warranty period March 27, 2010 Nothing really matters (Ottawa, Ontario, Canada) This router was fine for hard-wired connections but the wireless was slow and unreliable. We frequently had to re-boot it and/or check and mess around with the security settings simply to get it to work. After using it for about two years it finally just stopped working. It cost us $40 for the telephone assistance to confirm that we owned a brick.
Linksys offered us $15 off the purchase of a new Linksys router, but we went with the combination cable modem / router my ISP offers. We got it up and running easily and it is noticeably quicker!
$15 is cold comfort for two years of disappointing performance. I don't know if I'll be buying Linksys again. Probably not.
Linksys is OVERRATED; undependable, and has a short life!!! January 23, 2010 Bruce L. (Pittsburg, Kansas) Product: WRT150N Wireless-N Router
This product never performed well, and now, after a little more than a year, has quit working altogether. When a person walked thru the signal between the router and a wireless receiver, the internet connection would drop. We put up with that for the entire duration that we had it until one day when it just quit working. My computer, which was plugged directly into the router, could not access the internet, and the wireless function was non-operable as well. I tried reloading the Linksys WRT150N software, and at the end of the setup, I got an error message that said that it did not recognize the router (it's own router). Linksys technical support (located in the Philippines) was not helpful or sympathetic--other than the fact they wanted to sell me another piece of junk!
BEWARE of the reviews--based on my experience, I would say that this company does NOT DELIVER THE QUALITY or performance that the reviews would have you believe!!!
Litterally smashed this to pieces. January 2, 2010 C. Deutsch (Minneapolis, MN) This is my 4th or 5th Linksys wireless device. My iphone will not stay connected to this thing. Put it away for a couple months and decided to give it another try after finding out my Qwest Actiontec PK5000 doesn't do multicast so certain sharing applications don't work. Did a firmware update and it appeared to be fine but it wouldn't allow me to change settings. It would just say "connection reset" when submitting the web page. A hammer fixed the problem. Will not buy Linksys again. Also, don't get the Actiontec PK5000 from Qwest if you can avoid it.
Ever since the Cisco aquisition.... December 28, 2009 N. Rabren Linksys build quality has suffered. I've had my WRT150N for less than 12mos and it has already ceased to function. Also, product support for out of warranty items is non-existant. I've purchased/used Linksys for years, but no longer. Not going to waste my money.
