Buggy unit, terrible tech support May 24, 2010 TwistedTree After using this unit on my home network for a few months, my wireless and wired computers could no longer see each other. It was as if the networks where 2 seperate networks unable to access each other. No settings on the unit that could explain this problem. Called Trendnet, and thier solution was to reformat and re-install ALL of my computers and server. When I explained that that was NOT an option, and that everything worked just fine if I swapped in my old Linksys unit, they stopped responding. So currently I have a unit that is pretty much worthless, and they won't honor the warrenty because I am "refusing to assist in troubleshooting the issue" (yeah, right. Wiping out a server, 3 laptoips and 4 workstations and starting from scratch is "troubleshooting" in thier book). Bottom line, if it works, your OK, but if you have a problem with it, your on your own and forget about any warrenty.
tew633gr Trendnet router April 1, 2010 Dennis Worsham (usa) I'm going to make this very short. Best router i've ever had bar none. The good reviews that are already posted are nothing but the truth. As far as the bad reviews go i don't know what there problem is. Buy this router you won't be sorry!!!!!!!!!!
Great wireless N Router!! January 27, 2010 KenZen (Clearwater, Florida) I've used two of these routers--one at home and one at my office. Set up was fairly easy with or without the CD set-up disk, the security features/firewall are excellent, the range of signal is very good, and I've never had a "dropped connection" since I've owned this router. TRENDnet got this one right!!
Xcellent Gaming Router January 3, 2010 Riga Da Mon (Indiana) Pros: 1ghz wan & 4 Lan connections! Ultra easy setup via CD or IP...YOU CAN FILTER ONLY (or both) WIRELESS and LAN MAC addy's!! Came with latest firmware, but if your's doesn't, go get it! Played online video games and ran torrents while gaming, also have had 4 comptuers (wired) gaming, 2 wireless laptops running Facebook and NO LAG!!! Took out my dlink dgl4300 for this one and it was well worth it!! ULTRA fast performance on downloads and network transfers! SOLID!
Cons: Antenna's cant be replaced.
Thoughts: If you want a GREAT replacement for an older gaming router, GET THIS ONE! Cheaper and better than the big boy's' ones. The StreamEngine feature by omnibus in this one is what almost ALL gaming routers use! The N wireless which can be ran at 20 or 40hz (2.4ghz or 5ghz) and coverage is AWESOME, even for G signal! Disable PROTECTED SETUP in the router if you run N & G wireless and G cant connect.
I bought 2-easy setup, easy decision January 1, 2010 G B RODikUlus (New York, USA) I've had this Trendnet, after I came to Amazon, and looked at the great reviews on this product. My first wireless router was an AGB band Linksys. That thing was always dropping out. This one has NEVER dropped out. In fact, when my motherboard went on my computer, I bout a Windows 7 equipped one ( that I just got today), and this router didn't even need to be reconfigured. My Linksys would have had to be. As the homeowner, the house has 4 Xbox's, 2 PS3's, 2 laptops, 1 Palm Pre, and 1 desktop wirelessly connected to this device. The main desktop I'm using now, is the only hardwired device on the network, connected to the TRENDnet.
I was looking for something with wireless N capability. You can even prioritze which features you want more bandwidth for. It even has an Xbox LIVE setting, which was real helpful. My NAT ( Network Address Translation) on the Xbox used to always revert back to a strict NAT with the Linksys. Not anymore. My little brother down south had issues with his Xbox having strict NAT too, so I bought this for him around November 2009, and he is thoughougly pleased. I've had mine for about a year now. I would definetly buy this again, if the need be.
As you've read other reviews, you don't need to install the cd rom...just go to run, and type in it's address. Walla!...your in and can configure it from there.
