Wireless-N offers up to 300 Mbps wireless speeds for bandwidth-intensive users. View larger. |
The router also includes four wired Ethernet ports. View larger. | Smart Design with Wired and Wireless Connections The Wireless N Router has a striking, vertical enclosure that is both handsome and space efficient. The two built-in external antennas provide a wireless range of up to 1,200 feet and easily covers an apartment or small office. Six LEDs for Security, Wireless, Wired, Router, Modem, and Internet let you know the status of your network at a glance, making it easy to troubleshoot any problems. Wireless N uses the latest 802.11n Draft 2.0 technology, offering better range and throughput than 802.11g and 802.11b networks. By using smart MIMO (multiple-input and multiple-output) antenna technology, the range of a Wireless N network is extended and can blanket a large home. With wireless speeds of up to 300Mbps, you won't be waiting for videos to buffer or music to download because your children are playing online games. Wireless N provides more than enough bandwidth to make crystal-clear Internet phone calls, transfer a large amount of photos, and stream movies to your computer without any lag or hiccups. You can also share networked peripherals such as a Wi-Fi printer, hard drives, and DVDs. If you have some computers that use the older wireless standards, they'll still work because the Wireless N router is backwards compatible with 802.11g and 802.11b devices (though they won't connect at the same blistering speed). For maximum speed and range, Belkin's N Wireless USB Adapter, Notebook Card, and ExpressCard adapter are recommended. In addition to Wireless N, the router also has four 10/100 Ethernet ports at the back, giving you the option to plug in for a steady and secure, fast connection running at up to 100Mbps. Thanks to the strong built-in security, including support for WPA, WPA2, Wi-Fi Protected Setup, and 64-and 128-bit WEP encryption, you will be protected from hackers and intruders trying to gain access to your sensitive files. Setting up security is simple, too: just push the Wi-Fi Protected Setup button located on the front of the router. The router also supports VPN for making secure connections between home and office. Easy to Set Up Belkin designed the Wireless N Router to be as simple to use as possible. Simply connect your wireless router to your cable or DSL modem, plug the router in, and connect your computer to the router. That's it. To help monitor your network performance and usage, the router includes Personal Network Assistant software, which runs on Windows XP/Vista and Mac OS X 10.4/10.5. The Belkin N Wireless router is backed by a 1-year warranty and includes free 24/7 technical support. What's in the Box N Wireless Router, quick installation guide, Personal Network Assistant CD, user manual on CD, power supply, RJ45 Ethernet networking cable.
With a range up to 1200 feet, you have the freedom to work wherever you want. |

Horrible setup instructions - some respect to the cunsumers, please. June 28, 2010 Haydar S. Emre This router has very bad setup instructions. Ongoing disrespect to consumers continues; giving lousy and cryptic instructions. For many years, HP got hit with this issue and finally "got it"... Now they are doing the right thing by providing good instructions (and RESPECTING their consumer). But Belkin is still on the other side of the fence... With HP example, you'd think that would get their act together? But no... They have to "save" money and make bigger profits by reducing text and depictions from their setup instructions. After all, they know this stuff from heart, so who cares... The problem with the instructions is that they have "jammed" multiple operations in a few depictions which makes it cryptic and confusing. People working 10-11 hours a day come home and have to deal with such crap really sets the stage for fury.
My response to this issue is simple; I returned it.
In addition, I added Belkin name to my "Do Not Buy" database.
Hope that sends the right message.
Powerful little package! June 25, 2010 Thomas E. Curley (Eastern PA) Unfortunately, I bought a "Used" router, no installation disk and I just could not get it to connect to the internet. Vendor instructions were confusing. Belkin Support tried to help, but the thing wouldn't work. I sent it back and got a replacement. Big difference. Followed directions, connected to the Belkin Site and stumbled through the setup settings. I would estimate 15 - 20 minutes until I was connecting all our Desktops, laptops & Ipods. I replaced a Belkin G router (same size). The first thing I noticed was a much better range. Areas where I got no signal now had a strong one. SO far no dropped signals; a problem with the G router. Security is good. I hear complaints about speed. I'm not aware that you can get anymore speed (internet) than what your ISP modem provides, typically 6 - 11MBS. My personal feeling is that power surges from lightning may be damaging the routers performance over time. I used Belkin support (by email) and found them to be very helpful. I called Bekin Customer Service and they agreed to custom make an installation disk and send it to me. I had it in 48 hours. Unfortunately, the vendor sent a different version firmware on the replacement unit. Point is, Belkin was very accomodating. You just need patience!
Don't waste your money - or your time... June 20, 2010 R. Pulsifer Decided to take the plunge to wireless when I got a new Win 7 to go with our Mac. The biggest reason at the time was to be able to use a laptop remotely, along with having ports available to stream movies to the X-Box. Well, it seemed a good idea at the time.
Initial setup was relatively painless. Initial results were good. Everything worked flawlessly, for a while. Then, the next day dawned.
No, it wasn't really that quickly, but it was shortly after where we started the now-infamous dropping connection. After a couple of months fiddling around with it, including uninstalling and reinstalling wireless adapters, the router, the DSL modem, etc, it decided to only work wired. Hey, it's a small house, I could live with that. Except the X-Box never, ever stayed connected - and that was wired full time. And then one day, it decided that it would not even power up. By this time, the thing was all of 2-1/2 months old.
Naturally, the seller (Tiger Direct) wouldn't return it, you had to go through Belkin. I cannot describe the joy I felt when the first tech support guy was essentially useless. Part of it was obviously because I was sort of PO'd (not to the point of being rude, just not willing to tolerate a lot of nonsense.) Part of it was his English was almost as bad as my Hindi. Believe me, that generally is not an issue, but in this case his abject politeness was not capable of covering for the fact that he was not able to help me on my terms. My terms? Well, it's simple. Belkin made a piece of garbage. They were willing to take it back and replace it with another, but they expected me to pay the freight. Nope, not gonna do it. If it were a local store I would have driven, but I didn't think it was reasonable to help them defray the cost of shipping a broken piece of garbage back to them. The operator did give me the option of calling Belkin US, and they were good enough to pay freight both ways as a one-time courtesy.
So the service was speedy, I will give them back. Got the new router and immediately set it up fresh. As before, it worked flawlessly - for about 15 minutes. Now I am not an idiot - I deal with computers all day, every day, including wired and wireless networking. But apparently this thing is delighting in kicking my butt. The thing disconnects continuously, several times a day. And to make it worse, it will disconnect Internet even when wired. The worst thing? The 'reset' button on the top has never worked. You have to disconnect the power and restart it that way.
So needless to say, I am just throwing out this unit. I refuse to try to get Belkin to support this again, since I've used my one-time courtesy shipment. And frankly, it's just not worth the time or aggravation.
I will not buy Belkin again. Too bad, because the Belkin switch I have has worked for years, with no issues. The only reason to change is that the X-Box won't work with that.
decent router May 9, 2010 John Schuster (Scottsdale, Az) Had this for 2 months it's on all the time had to reboot only once, little trouble setting up permissions on the firewall side with programs being shared among the various computers so just left it off & use the win7 firewall instead, this router has good range & I have 2 wireless laptops plus my cell phone running through it also my Direct tv drv is wired into it, This replaced a D-Link that just went bad after 3 yrs. I do recommend this router for your everyday use. Also getting it through Amazon you are assured fast delivery.
GREAT STUFF!! April 28, 2010 Akuma (Corona, NY United States) I've had this router for quiet some time now, and I haven't seen any issues. The router is set WPA TKIP security as well as mac address filtering and no SSID broadcast and all works well. I've got a PS3, PSP, wireless PC, 2 notebook and a PC on a LAN and all work great(my PSP wont work with AES Security). I think the best thing to do if you are having trouble configuring this device is to do a little bit of research before setting it up. The only feature that is a bit concerning regarding this router is that in order for you to set a custom private IP, you need to set all hosts to static IP and turn off the DHCP.
