almost 2 years and counting July 2, 2010 Derek Ng With so many 2.0 USB peripherals, I needed a usb 7port hub that needed to connect all my harddrives, flash drives, etc.
So far this is hub has been great.
Pros: I can get up to 30MB/sec on my HDs from my macbook on this hub which makes it great since I have 4 harddrives connected to this hub. It doesn't have much trouble with any of my harddrives or flash drives. It's also got a good weight to it.
Cons: Why is the power and usb connector on the 4port side? I would've preferred it on the other side but that's not a big deal. That Blue LED is a pain, but I just put black electrical tape over it.
Overall, its a great hub for what I need. I have the hub hidden under my desk with all my external drives. All I have is one usb wire that connects to my macbook on my desk. The desk looks super neat now!
3 Years and still going July 1, 2010 Lamont E. Ingram (APO, AE United States) Brought this hub three years ago and it's still working fine. I would not use it to plug in devices that require "data transfer". Most of theses items I have the manufacture recommends that they be connected directly to your computer through its USB ports. I have found this to be mostly true. Additionally, some devices causes my computer not to boot up when connect initially. No problem...I just wait until computer has booted to plug them in.
Fail! June 2, 2010 Buyer (Tampa, FL) I bought two of these from Amazon about a month apart. After one year first fell apart. Six months later the second one stopped working.
great design...developed issues May 11, 2010 Roger Striffler (Apex, NC USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Bought this hub to add devices since my iMac has only three USB ports. Love the design, and the pad that allows you to mount it (still removable) to the desktop is very nice. Even without that, it tends to stay where you put it. Having ports on both the front and back is great.
I am using the hub to connect a couple of (non-powered) portable USB hard drives, a scanner, and occasionally cameras, etc. The hub worked great at first, but occasionally it seemed that some ports would not recognize a device when plugged in. Recently it has developed an issue where plugging in another device will cause it to drop currently existing devices - most notably one of the portable drives, causing it to be dismounted. This is more than inconvenient, as repeated incorrect dismounting of the drive can cause data loss or drive failure.
I would love to see this issue corrected, as it's a great hub otherwise, but in the mean time I would have to caution against using it with external drives.
Works great in Windows 7 64-bit May 1, 2010 J. Hayes (NJ United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Recently got a new Dell running Windows 7 64-bit, and needed some extra ports. This hub works perfectly. Installed without a hitch. Every device I've tried works flawlessly, printer, external hard drive, GPS, MP3 player. I actually have all of my USB devices plugged into this hub and only the hub plugged into the back of the computer. Plenty of ports and nice and heavy so it stays put with everything plugged in.
