Mac support never happened June 4, 2010 David K. Watson (Ojai, CA USA) At the time I received this device, Sling was purportedly working on a Mac OSX version of the Sling Projector software. That never happened and now the software and firmware has not been updated for a year and the SlingCatcher has apparently been discontinued by the manufacturer.
In the meantime, I have an AppleTV and my older Mac Mini hooked up to my HDTV, making the SlingCatcher redundant at best. It was an interesting idea, but it's in a dynamic market segment where newer and more capable products are coming along almost every month.
Won't work with Apple May 20, 2010 Mktggirl1 (CA) I was given this as a gift, and was super excited to try it out. The problem, is that it is absolutely not compatible with Macs. I thought for sure I could research it and make it work in some capacity, but I was unable to come up with anything except promises for Mac compatibility that go back for quite a while. Bummer, still holding out hope though!
Excellent quality video & audio May 15, 2010 Alfredo Rosales (MIAMI, FL, US) I was afraid that the delay and video quality were not good, but I'm impressed. My slingcatcher is connected via wire to the same switch, not a long run, so delay is miminum and video quality is awesome. Audio actually improved compared with my old RG-6 connection to the same source.
Definitively recommend this product, if you can get it... Best Buy is out of stock, [...] doesn't sell it anymore and only few web stores have it in stock but a little bit overpriced. I'd say go for it, though.
Sling Catcher March 8, 2010 Ed Oakley (Dallas, Texas) I bought this with the SLing Box. I took this Sling Catcher to Thailand and it works great. I can watch my programs on tv while I am living there.
SlingCatcher January 31, 2010 R. Mortensen 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I just moved to Germany and I'm using Slingbox with the SlingCatcher to watch my TV back in the USA. Before purchasing the SlingCatcher I was using my laptop hooked to my TV which was OK but it left a lot of room for improvement. Now, watching the same broadcast using the SlingCatcher is almost like being at home. You can connect it to your TV using standard RCA connections or by using the HDMI connection. There is a slight delay when sending commands (like changing channels) which is expected and the signal isn't HD quality but these two devices together make for an excellent TV viewing experience. When traveling I'd stick to watching Slingbox video on my PC rather than carrying an extra piece of equipment in my luggage but if you're going to be in one spot for an extended stay I would highly recommend the SlingCatcher as a companion to the Slingbox.
