1 out of 3 is bad! May 12, 2010 Jenks (Baton Rouge, Louisiana, US) this product will last 2years, if your'e lucky. Great features, but if router or modem doesn't function your'e up the creek. If you do decide to buy it or any other product buy directly from amazon.com (not someone selling on amazon.com . I got taken for $200 that way with no way to get my money back!)
AVOID AVOID AVOID Buying this...don't say we didn't warn you later if you do. March 3, 2010 MMK (Boston Area) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The small footprint and only needing to plug one thing in attracted me at first. I read good reviews and bad ones here and thought the bad ones are just the unlucky few who got defected units. So I bought one thinking I'll try my luck. Turns out my unit has the exact same problem.
Wireless drops when downloading files or streaming videos (anything with high bandwidth). I can watch an online video for 8 to 10 sec before the whole unit freezes and I need to reset (turn it off/on). There is nothing wrong with the connection because everything is fine if I do the samething with a wired cable.
Called Linksys 3x and after they told me to reset, change channal #, etc.... still having dropped wireless connection. The last Linksys tech says it needs a firmware upgrade but Linksys does not have it and the firmware has to be pushed by ISP (Comcast). Called Comcast who said they don't support router problems and they have no firmware available at all. This is apparently common according to Linksys's online support FAQ.
So, stay away....don't say we didn't warn you.
Not D3 standard compliant. February 16, 2010 Howard Likins (Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, US) I have always had great service from Linksys products but this one arrived damaged. I then found out it did not support Docsis 3 standard which my carrier has upgraded. The supplier was very responsive with allowing return of the product but I still lost out on the shipping both ways.
Must have gotten a good unit... January 1, 2010 Joseph M. Pollard (Sykesville, MD United States) I have read the comments here on Amazon, and quite frankly have had a pretty good experience with the unit. It is running in Florida, and maybe three or four times a year it needs to be bounced, but that is generally due to storms in the area. Very reliable, and have used it for remote access also.
The only reason I am looking to replace it is to run the Tomato firmware on it.
Has been in place since 3/2006.
Two years, never a problem, works great wired and wireless December 19, 2009 ROBERT PILLITTERI (Seattle, WA USA) I've had this item for two years and it has never been a problem--never. It is in use continuously.
