Well worth the Investment September 12, 2009 Melissa M. Phillips (Clayton, IN United States) The Actiontec was easy to hook up, and now I save money every month by not renting it from the telephone company.
Works great after I had to reset it July 11, 2009 Mike Fromm (Tucson, AZ) The item was not correctly advertized as a "Verizon" Gateway. Fortunately, Actiontec Technical support was able to help me reset it for use with Qwest. Worked great once it was reset.
One VPN at a time April 30, 2008 Charles D. Cousins (Outer Sobovia, Washington) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
This product is a Qwest rental for a small, 5-station office. It works fine for internet access, but it will not allow more than one Cisco VPN client to be active at one time. Since it's necessary for the people in this office to access the company intranet for everything from timesheets to requisitions and forms--it's a real headache.
So far, we've found no solution. Qwest says they don't offer vpn support. Actiontec was no help at all. And I haven't found a similar problem with a solution yet on any of the forums I've looked at.
If you're looking for a wireless modem that will work seamlessly with multiple VPN users, look elsewhere.
***UPDATE***
After a LOT of casting around for a solution to the dropped connection issues, I've found that changing a line in the target Cisco VPN router fixed the problem of allowing multiple vpn connections to access via this modem.
So it's not an Actiontec issue. But I'm leaving the rating the same due to the complete lack of help from Actiontec in clearing the issue up.

reliable March 9, 2008 Stay at Home Father (Denver, Colorado) This has been a reliable product for the past month. I have liberty bell DSl service, and this was the only modem they said they would support, so being a novice to the DSL equipment & service I bought it. I got it at Best Buy for >$100, and had no trouble getting the service once my line was activated. However, I did have trouble getting the wireless work with my Vista Laptop initially. After a short conversation with the Tech Support people, it's been working ever since. I've only had one time where the modem was not working wirelessly (worked just fine for our computer that was plugged in)...so all I did was turn it off and then back on..and it worked again.
I have it plugged in in the basement, via our desktop, and use the laptop throughout the house...no problems with signal strength. I only wish it were faster than the 54Mbps, but it is a vast improvement over the dial-up we had. No problems with youtube type video downloads and we only have the 256 connection.
